When you think about Argentina you might imagine a couple dancing tango sensuously or an euphoric crowd screaming in a football match between Boca and River. Or you might expect a "Gaucho", making a barbecue in a ranch accompanied by the melodic pointing of a guitar. If you have the fortune of reaching as far south you may be surprised to enjoy what imagined and much more. This country of immigrants surprises both for its cultural diversity as its length and breadth of climates and views. It offers stunning beaches and resorts, adventures in the snow, fishing in major rivers such as the Parana or in streams and lakes of the south, proposals for health tourism in distinguished baths, trekking in the Andes and much more.

 For its extension it is the second country in South America and the eighth in the world. You'll find different regions, each with its uniqueness and natural wealth. Argentina has several climatic regions and landscaping: northwest, litoral, center, cuyo, patagonia and Buenos Aires.


Regions of Argentina

In the north-western you´re going to find traces of pre-columbian cultures, aboriginal fortresses in ruins and villages where intermingle aboriginal cultures with the spanish and constructions of the conquest and colonization. This region allows the encounter with a landscape full of contrasts, from the high peaks until the plain, with salt and subtropical forests, and especially with the roots of the latin american culture.

One of the most surprising places that you can visit is the highlands of the Puna, a land furrowed with hills, gorges and ravines, where you'll find with small towns of the Quebrada de Humahuaca (Humahuaca Gorge) in the province of Jujuy , as Purmamarca, Tilcara, Yaví, Humahuaca, Cachi e Iruya, among others, that are surrounded by hills that are sometimes colorful, sometimes monochrome and with slopes of large cactus. You can see and buy handicrafts to the region, and dine with typical dishes such as the locro, empanadas, humita, tamales, etc.

 In the northwestern region you can also visit the Calchaquí valleys, the Cuesta del Portezuelo in Catamarca , and the Thermal Waters of Rio de Hondo in Santiago del Estero, recognized by its curative powers. 

The Provincial Park Talampaya in the province of La Rioja is noted for its awesome landscapes, and is shaped by forms rocky the wind eroded and cut for centuries.

In the National Park El Rey (The King) and Baritu in Salta Province the large number of flora and fauna allow you to make expeditions for birds and butterflies watching. Picturesque medieval villages, indigenous ruins, aboriginal culture, thermal waters, hills and ravines, national parks integrate the proposal in this region, rich in history and traditions.  The Tren a las Nubes (Train to the clouds) in Salta province, which reaches 4,200 meters beyond San Antonio de los Cobres (163 Km of Salta) is a very good proposal that you have for visiting these picturesque roads. Las Cataratas de Iguazu and Ruinas de San Ignacion are located in the Argentinian Northeast, very close to Brazil and Paraguay. There you can visit the Iguazu falls, wich in indigenous language means great Waters, an area of exuberant beauty. It is located in the region of the great rivers, the humid tropics, of red earth and virgin jungle covered with giant trees, with stunning flora and fauna. Here the nature overflows in one of the wonders of the world. You´ll be able to walk in the jungle and make tours of catwalks where you can have a very broad and close view to the various waterfalls that make up the Falls. One of the most famous is the Devil´s Throat.

 In the way to the Falls you´ll find the Jesuit missionaries Ruins who were declared Cultural Heritage of Mankind, by UNESCO; they are a testimony to the fruitful work that the Company of Jesus, conducted in this region of America.

 The landscape is fit to make safaris in 4 X 4, that will show you the flora and fauna in the region of Iguazu National Park. Its environment jungle houses around 2000 plant species, 400 species of birds, variety of mammals and a large amount of insects, which makes this ecosystem one of the richest natural environments of the country; you also have the opportunity to practice rafting in the Iguazú River. Close to this place you will discover and stay in ranchs, from which can make tours on foot, in canoe or on horseback.

In the center of the country you´ll find Córdoba. Cultural and tourist, traditional and modern, industrial and handicraft, Cordoba is one of the most important economic centers in the country. You can enjoy a relief of hills and a benign climate to spend your vacation in any of the four seasons. This province in the center of Argentina captive all ages and meets all the preferences as alternates natural landscapes and colonial architectural monuments. The jesuit estancias of Cordoba are a sample of unique productive organization of the religious of the Company of Jesus in the country, which has come to our days through an architecture carefully preserved. In Alta Gracia, you can visit the house where revolutionary Che Guevara lived his childhood.

 Another very interesting journey to carry out is the Calamuchita Valley, the Punilla Valley, and Traslasierra, all of them fraught with history. In Carlos Paz, located on the shores of Lake San Roque you can find places for taste very good meals and enjoy a very rich nightlife. On your way to Traslasierra can see condors overflying the hills.

 In the City of Cordoba there are many paths that you can carry out. You can start with the visit to the jesuitic block that includes the Church of the Company of Jesus, the Domestic Chapel, the residence of the Jesuits, the principalship of the National University of Cordoba and National College of Montserrat. The Jesuit Estancias next to the jesuitic block, historical national monuments, were all declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity, in 2000.

 There are many activities that gives to you this beautiful province. Adventure tourism, rural tourism, sport fishing in the various lakes as Los Molinos Lake and Lake San Roque, without forgetting a pulsating urban life and nightlife. You cannot fail to take into account this place in your visit to Argentina.

This is an area of contrasts because it combines an arid mountainous region with rivers from the Andes.  The Atuel Canyon, with a colorful and unique beauty, is the result of the erosion that rivers have done to their channels to overcome the mountains. Winter sports are present in several ski resorts, among which emphasizes that the Valley of the Leñas. Hot springs completes the tourist offer in the region.

Patagonia Tours Argentina

In the same park you cannot fail to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the wonders of nature, with its awesome ice that spread over 5 km from the front and 60 meters in height. At any time of year its constant landslides surprises with ice towers that become fragmented in multiple icebergs. It comes from El Calafate, where you can also make a lake excursion toward the Upsala glacier 50 km in length.

 Awesome mammals and seabirds live some seasons in the rugged Patagonian coast where they gather part of its life cycle. Colonies of sea lions play in islets. The southern elephant seals have in Valdes Peninsula the most important continental settlement of the world, a magical place to which also come punctually the Southern Right Whale to procreate. Maras, ñandúes and guanacos run by steppes and in Punta Tombo nests the largest colony of magellanic penguins of the planet. The astonished gaze of the visitor provides this cadence that repeats itself since immemorial time.

And further South in Tierra del Fuego is the southernmost city of the world, Ushuaia, an open door toward the immense and mysterious Antarctica.
